GMA was honored to participate in the resident-led design working group for the Crescent Halls and South First Street affordable housing projects in Charlottesville, Virginia. Over the last three months, residents met weekly with the AOR to provide input on the design. Last week, the collaborative session included a number of design modules focused on interior and exterior layout concepts. GMA recommended using VR technology to give participants a virtual representation of the future buildings and unit layouts designed by the residents.

President, Cornelius Griggs, spoke with the participants about the importance of resident involvement in the design process, and he shared GMA’s best practices from its affordable housing work in Chicago and in other parts of the country. GMA is proud of its close partnership with the residents of Charlottesville and their trust in the firm’s ability to help guide and execute their vision. Working together we will ensure residents in Charlottesville will have access to high quality affordable housing for generations to come.
